The Gomez family name has always been linked to the main craft of Toledo, Damascening. The knowledge of several generations and a unique vision in creating new items led Ángel Gómez to found Creaciones D’Angel in 1965, originally specializing in reproducing art replicas in a small workshop of just 25 square meters. Today, CREDAN S. A. is among the most prestigious stores worldwide.
The quality of the materials used (24 kt gold), the refinement of the finishes, and the elegance of the designs have enabled rapid global expansion. Kings, sheiks, ambassadors, and important figures are loyal customers of the company.
The manufacturing process begins with a mechanical treatment that gives the base metal a certain roughness to ensure perfect adhesion of the gold. Subsequently, gold sheets and wire are embedded using burins, reproducing a design previously transferred onto the base metal.
To achieve perfect adhesion of the gold sheets and wires, they are hammered with chisels. The next step is the oxidation of the areas without gold, which is carried out through a chemical process called "pavon," giving the non-damascened areas an intense black color that contrasts with the gold.
Once the piece is oxidized, the gold areas are hammered again with metal burins to create shines and matte effects that enhance the craftsmanship.
